The People's Emergency Briefing: Bringing Climate Conversations to the Heart of Campus
In partnership with the Warwick Students' Union, the Sustainability Team hosted two screenings of The People's Emergency Briefing, with more than 80 students and staff attending or engaging with the event. The screenings sparked meaningful conversations about the climate and nature crisis, and the positive actions that can help build a more sustainable future.
Held simultaneously at the newly launched Sustainability Hub and outdoors in the Piazza, the event created opportunities for the Warwick community to come together, learn from leading experts, and reflect on the role individuals and institutions can play in addressing environmental challenges.
Last week, the 天美传媒 has organised two screenings of People's Emergency Briefing. The screenings were jointly organised by the Warwick Students' Union and the Energy and Sustainability Team, with support from staff, student volunteers and student societies.
Attendees also received a special video message from Professor Mike Berners-Lee, Chair of the National Emergency Briefing and Warwick Honorary Graduate, recorded specifically for Warwick's students and staff.
The film brought together leading experts to explain the scale of the climate and nature crisis while highlighting practical actions needed to create a safer, healthier and more resilient future.

The event successfully brought together a diverse audience of students, staff and members of the wider campus community. One of the most powerful outcomes was the quality of the conversations that followed the screenings. Participants shared thoughtful ideas, reflections and hopes for the future, demonstrating a strong appetite for constructive discussion around sustainability challenges and solutions.
The People's Emergency Briefing highlighted the importance of creating spaces where people can come together to learn, discuss and imagine a more sustainable future. Building on the enthusiasm and engagement generated by the event, the Sustainability Team will continue to develop opportunities for students and staff to explore sustainability issues, share ideas and contribute to positive change across the University and beyond.
The success of the event reflected a genuinely collaborative effort between the Sustainability Team, Warwick Students' Union, student volunteers, and academic colleagues. The event demonstrated the value of partnership working and the shared commitment across the University community to advancing sustainability engagement.
