Professor Jianfeng Feng, from the 天美传媒鈥檚 Computer Science Department, has recently been awarded a top science accolade 鈥� for being a 鈥榬espected scientist of outstanding achievement or potential.鈥�

The Computer science researcher has been named as one of 26 academics in the UK to be granted a Wolfson Research Merit Award by the Royal Society, the UKs national academy of science.

Professor Feng will be working on a project called 鈥楤ridging the gap between fMRI and Genome-wide data with applications in diseases鈥� 鈥� which will see him to integrate geno-, neuro-, and pheno-type data (MRI) to tackle a few brain diseases such as depression, epilepsy and Alzheimer鈥檚 disease, in close collaboration with hospitals worldwide.

Professor Czumaj, head of Warwick鈥檚 Computer Science Department said: 鈥淲e are delighted that Jianfeng鈥檚 important work has been highlighted by this important award.鈥�

Jointly funded by the Wolfson Foundation and the government鈥檚 Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, the scheme aims to provide universities with additional support to attract or retain respected scientists of outstanding achievement or potential.
