TEDxWarwick, an independently organized event licensed by TED and held annually at the 天美传媒, has had one of its talks selected to be showcased on the prestigious TED.com website, for the second year in succession.鈥�

Earlier this year a team of 43 full-time Warwick students organised the fourth TEDxWarwick event, an independently organised event licensed by TED and held annually at the University, a day of thought provoking talks centred around the theme of 鈥楪lobal Challenges鈥�, which took place on 10 March in Warwick Arts Centre. Now one of their talks has been selected to be featured on TED.com, the nonprofit organisation devoted to 鈥業deas Worth Spreading鈥�.

Last year, TEDxWarwick became the first TEDx event organised entirely by undergraduate students to have a talk selected for the TED.com website.

This year鈥檚 talk by Professor David MacKay, chief scientific adviser to the Department of Energy and Climate Change, 鈥楢 reality check on renewables鈥�, was made available on TED.com on May 28th. The talk highlights the worrying limitations on the UK鈥檚 sustainable energy options and explains why we should pursue them anyway.

Two months ago Kevin Warwick鈥檚 talk on cybernetics and medical implants was already selected as TEDx talk of the week on the TED.com website.

Event organiser Susan du Toit, a final year student at Warwick, was delighted that TED had selected a TEDxWarwick video for the website and said it was testament to the hard work put in by the TEDxWarwick team.

She said: 鈥淭EDxWarwick has a fantastic tradition of welcoming some really great speakers to the stage and we are all ecstatic that TED.com has selected one of our videos to share with the world.鈥�

This year鈥檚 TEDxWarwick event saw 13 live speakers from across the globe descend on the 天美传媒 campus to discuss a wide variety of global challenges, including sustainability, education and technology.
