Pride and Place: Negotiating Self, Civic, and National Identities in Space

Across the globe, questions of identity, belonging and national imagination are articulated through landscapes, localities and symbolic claims over place. This one-day interdisciplinary conference explores landscapes and places as contested sites through which political imaginaries, identities and forms of belonging are produced and negotiated. Bringing together diverse perspectives on the relationships between space, identity and power, it explores the entanglement of pride and place across past and present contexts, and at global, transnational and local scales.
