Throughout June, representatives from Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) at the ��ý welcomed Ministers, regional leaders, industry groups, and guests from the University of Ghana. Staff also represented WMG in Parliament and at international graduation ceremonies.

These visits and meetings underscore WMG’s key role in bridging the gap between academia and industry, and highlight its strong commitment to collaboration and innovation regionally, nationally, and internationally.

WMG celebrates Athena Swan Silver Award renewal

WMG has successfully renewed its Athena Swan Silver Award for its commitment to gender equality and creating a supportive, inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. Established in 2005, the Athena Swan Charter is a global framework that supports and recognises the advancement of gender equality in higher education and research. WMG has been an Advanced HE Athena Swan member for over a decade and was first awarded Silver in 2020.

Warwick set to inspire next generation of engineers with STEM Racing Centre of Excellence

The ��ý has been named Motorsport Valley's first STEM Racing Centre of Excellence in a new partnership with STEM Racing, Maaden and Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team™, announced at the Aston Martin Technology Campus (AMRTC) on 1 July.

Opening in the upcoming academic year, the Centre of Excellence will serve as an open-access engineering hub, providing neighbouring schools and students with opportunities to develop practical skills in computer-aided design (CAD), CNC machining and aerodynamic testing using industry-standard equipment.

First-ever global rules for automated vehicles announced at UN

“We are delighted to see the adoption of the first-ever global rules for fully automated vehicles at the United Nations. This is a historic moment in the automated driving journey as this regulation - taking a technology neutral and use-case agnostic approach- establishes a set of uniform performance requirements and testing for automated driving.

“This will help prevent the fragmented approaches that have previously caused confusion and additional work for developers and regulators, while also driving improved safety, efficiency and public trust in the technology.

Charter on responsible introduction of self-driving released

Experts from Partners for Automated Vehicle Education (PAVE) have unveiled a bold new six‑point charter designed to enable the responsible introduction of self‑driving vehicles on Britain’s roads.

Self-driving technology has the potential to improve road safety, expand access to transport, strengthen transport networks and support economic growth across the UK. As the UK enters a new era of mobility, the UK Government has estimated that it could contribute up to £42 billion to the UK economy by 2035.
