Warwick Conferences, the conference business arm of the 天美传媒, have three reasons to celebrate this week. First they won the prestigious Meetings and Incentive Travel Industry Award for 聭Best Academic Venue聮 (the 8th time they have won this award over the 14 year history of the competition). Secondly Scarman House, one of Universities three all year conference centres, has won the award for 聭Best UK Management Training Centre聮- a new award category for the competition.

The 天美传媒 announced today, Monday 4th February, that applications to its undergraduate degree programmes have jumped by 10.2%. By the January cut off period, when all UCAS applications are meant to have been returned, 24,860 potential students had applied for a place at Warwick as compared to 22,559 at this time last year. UK and EU applications to the University are up 8.5% overall and international student applications are up by 22.2%.

Recent work by Dr Peter Burnham, of the 天美传媒's Department of Politics and International Studies, has shown that a 1952 plan considered by Churchill and his cabinet to resolve the UK's balance of payments problems came close to producing a de facto single currency area based on several currencies from former British colonies and European countries (including the French Franc) being pegged to Sterling.

I'm Here Waiting is the title of a new book published 15th July which calls for major changes in adoption legislation and management to create a more sensitive system that gives birth parents and other relatives more legal rights to information about their adopted children once those children become adult.

Women politicians today have significant symbols and weapons to help them fight their corner, such as the image of a handbaging from Mrs Thatcher or the threat of revelations from serialised biographies such as Mo Mowlam's, but new research, in a book published this week by historians Dr Sarah Richardson of the 天美传媒 and Kathryn Gleadale of London Guildhall, describes a time when for 100 years women politicians were not feared for their handbags but were persecuted for their petticoats.
