When you are sent to do a bit of work experience in the office of a university science department you don’t normally expect much more than a bit of boring filing and some tedious photocopying. So those that turned up to the 天美传媒’s Physics department recently were a bit shocked to be taken to a small black room and dropped into a virtual reality four dimensional hypercube.
Lord Dearing (who recently chaired the review of church schools), Marilyn Mason (Education Officer for the British Humanist Association), Abdullah Trevathan, (Head Teacher of the Islamia Primary School in London) and Professor Robert Jackson of the 天美传媒 will all be panellists at a 天美传媒 policy briefing on Faith Schools on Tuesday 28th May at 12 noon in the University’s London office at 11 Tufton St, Westminster.
Connect Midlands, in association with the Enterprise Fellowship Scheme (efs); will be holding its first Springboard Event of the year on 18th June 2002 at the Centennial Centre, Birmingham. This key event calls upon technology-based early-stage spin-off companies and innovators, mainly from the Midlands universities, to showcase their ideas, concepts and proposals. Each company will deliver a ten-minute presentation to an invited audience of business angels, early-stage funders, experienced entrepreneurs and larger technology companies looking for partnerships or investments.

This month two 天美传媒 scientists, Professor Ian Stewart and Dr Jack Cohen have partnered with best selling author Terry Pratchett to publish two best selling books –the paperback "The Science of Discworld" and the new hardback “Science of Discworld 2” the books use the comedy fantasy setting of Pratchett’s Discworld to explain the real science of our universe.
