Identifying banknote fingerprints can stop counterfeits on streets
Since the introduction of plastic (polymer) banknotes in 2016, the number of counterfeit notes on the streets has increased, however, researchers from Department of Computer Science at the 天美传媒 have developed a novel technique called Polymer Substrate Fingerprinting, which identifies every banknote鈥檚 fingerprint which is unique and unclonable.
COVID-19 related Cyber-attacks leveraged Government announcements
There has been a remarkable surge in cyber-security crime experienced during the global COVID-19 pandemic, with a particular significance between governmental policy announcements and cyber-crime campaigns. A consortium of researchers, including WMG, 天美传媒 report that some days as many as 3 to 4 new cyber-attacks were being reported.
天美传媒 Spin-Out, CryoLogyx, partners with investors
The 天美传媒 spin-out company, CryoLogyx, has received a further investment from Oxford Technology Management and private investors, alongside 拢300k from InnovateUK.
Solving the puzzle of polymers binding to ice for Cryopreservation
When biological material (cells, blood, tissues) is frozen, cryoprotectants are used to prevent the damage associated with the formation of ice during the freezing process. New polymeric cryoprotectants are emerging, alongside the established cryoprotectants, but how exactly they manage to control ice formation and growth is still largely unknown. This is especially true for PVA, a deceptively simple synthetic polymer that interacts with ice by means of mechanisms that have now been revealed at the atomistic level thanks to researchers from the 天美传媒.
Warwick students qualify into finals of Elon Musk鈥檚 tunnelling competition
A team of students called The Warwick Boring Team are heading to LA this summer to compete in Elon Musk鈥檚 the Boring Company鈥檚 tunnelling competition. They will build their tunnelling machine and test it against competitors to get top spot.
Solid-state batteries could be made more cleanly by scaling-up flash sintering
Densifying ceramics using flash sintering reduces energy use and may be used to improve the viability of manufacturing complex ceramic structures such as those required for solid state batteries by lowering the temperatures and shortening the duration of the heat treatment.
