Presentations: Christopher Strelluf

Christopher Strelluf presented two papers at the International Conference on English Historical Linguistics, held in Milan in June 2026.

The presentations explored regional and social variation in the history of English, examining both nineteenth-century American English and the historical development of English in Coventry, England. The conference travel was supported by SELCS conference travel funding.

The papers were:

  • Strelluf, C. & Gordon, M. J. Regional variation in 19th-century Missouri English.
  • Strelluf, C. & Asprey, E. “An accent exceedingly rare”: The historical emergence of a sociolinguistically “liminal” English in Coventry, England.
