Submission Deadlines and Important Dates

 

Please note that Doctoral Skills will be submitted via Moodle from the 2026/27 academic year.

This is the timetable for postgraduate progress monitoring.

Note that your Feedback Supervisor plays a key role in reviewing your progress and giving you feedback on your reports.

A detailed description of required skills tasks can be found on Moodle.

For tasks that require feedback, these should be submitted to Moodle by the deadlines below.

If there is any reason why you cannot submit to your reviewer by these deadlines then you should discuss this with your Supervisor and obtain agreement from the Director for Graduate Studies.

Review of Second Year Poster Presentation ( May 2027)

Second year students produce a research poster in May. First year students should produce a critical review at least one of these.
Peer observation of a teaching session can be substituted for this but should contain critical reflection and analysis.

Make sure that you have a page or section on the Physics department website that describes who you are, what you're working on and your progress to date before the end of your first year.

PhD year 2

Year 1 Progress and Research Plan Report

This should include a summary of your year 1 progress, a research plan for the coming years summarising project structure and a Gantt chart (diagram showing how time will be broken down). It should also include an updated budget plan for your research project and any likely travel.

Research Poster Presentation

The first part of this task is to present your poster at the poster presentation on the May 2027. The second is to submit a reflective piece.

Keep a record of attendance and write a summary and critical review at least one seminar.

Science Meetings

Organise a Group of Collaborator Meeting: All second years should gain experience coordinating meetings of groups or collaborators - this may be a one off science meeting organised as part of a team, or acting as coordinator for a regular meeting programme.

Attend an External Science Meeting: Either attend or make a plan to attend a research meeting in your field outside of Warwick.

Submission Deadline

All students have a nominal submission deadline at the end of their fourth year, not including any periods of temporary withdrawal or sick leave.

 

 

All dates apply to students starting a PhD between 1 June and 30 November. Progress monitoring dates for students who start their studies outside this period will be arranged and advised on an individual basis.
