What is your current role and what does a typical week look like?
I am a T-focussed academic. What a typical weeks looks like depends on the time of year. Much of the year a typical week is taken up by lecturing, tutorials and similar. Other times of the year it is supervising project students, developing new teaching material and planning ahead.

Who would you say is your role model in your personal and/or professional life?
I don't think I have ever had a particular role model. Looking at people around me everyone has strengths and weaknesses and you can learn from their strengths but also from how they negotiate their weaknesses.
Which skills help you most in being able to perform your role?
A good work ethic and problem solving skills whether that is to understand a scientific problem or work out how to communicate something complicated so it becomes accessible to people who are learning.
How has your education or roles previous to joining Life Sciences, informed your interests, and why did you choose this career direction?
I always wanted to do biochemistry and from my degree naturally went into research. I realised after many years as a post doc that what I enjoyed the most was the teaching side so I made the choice to focus on teaching.What is your favourite place on campus and why?
Tocil Woods and the lakes. It's beautiful and I love the animal life.
What are your main interests or passions, outside of work?
Ceramics. I have taken it up recently and I love it.
