Advanced manufacturing of 3D functional architectures for electrochemical applications
This PhD project will explore the development of advanced 3D functional architectures using multimaterial additive manufacturing. The research will investigate novel manufacturing approaches, material integration strategies and structure-property relationships for electrochemical applications. The candidate will combine materials development, fabrication, characterisation and performance evaluation to advance next generation sustainable energy technologies.
Primary supervisor: Jisun Im - Jisun.Im@warwick.ac.uk
Project detail:
Emerging electrochemical technologies increasingly require complex 3D structures that cannot be readily fabricated using conventional manufacturing techniques. Multimaterial additive manufacturing offers new opportunities to create integrated architectures with tailored properties, enhanced functionality and improved performance.
This PhD project will investigate the design, fabrication and characterisation of advanced materials and 3D functional architectures using state-of-the-art additive manufacturing approaches. The research will focus on the development of manufacturing strategies that enable precise control over material distribution, structural features and functional performance within multimaterial systems.
The successful candidate will undertake experimental research involving materials processing, additive manufacturing, advanced characterisation techniques and electrochemical evaluation. The project will also explore relationships between manufacturing parameters, material properties and device performance to establish design guidelines for future functional systems.
Applicants with backgrounds in Chemistry, Engineering, Physics or related disciplines are encouraged to apply. Experience in additive manufacturing, materials characterisation or electrochemistry would be advantageous but is not essential.
