Join colleagues from across Warwick and the EUTOPIA alliance online for the EUTOPIA SIF Final Event, celebrating the achievements and impact of the EUTOPIA-SIF MSCA COFUND programme. The event brings together researchers from across Europe to showcase interdisciplinary research spanning Data & Intelligence, Health, Materials Engineering, Sustainability, and Welfare & Inclusion, while exploring research careers and international collaboration.
The event begins with a plenary session on research careers from 11:00鈥�12:30 CEST, followed by the five parallel thematic sessions from 14:00鈥�15:30 CEST.
Participants can register for the session or sessions they wish to attend. All five sessions include Warwick EUTOPIA Fellows, with the Data & Intelligence session being hosted by Warwick. This session will feature presentations from Cristian Jimenez Romero of CY Cergy Paris Universit茅, Cristina Deidda of Vrije Universiteit Brussel, and David Orrego-Carmona of the 天美传媒, followed by a panel discussion around the question of...

Meet the Speakers
- David Orrego-Carmona, 天美传媒:Link opens in a new window David Orrego-Carmona is a Reader (Associate Professor) in Translation Studies at Warwick whose research explores translation, technologies and users, including machine translation, subtitling, audiovisual translation, and the societal implications of translation technologies. His work focuses on how translation technologies shape multilingual communication and how digital tools affect professional and non-professional translation practices.
- Cristian Jimenez Romero is a Marie Sk艂odowska-Curie / EUTOPIA-SIF postdoctoral fellow at CY Cergy Paris Universit茅 working at the intersection of AI, neuroscience, robotics, and complex systems. His project investigates hybrid neural networks that combine artificial and spiking neural networks to improve continuous learning in autonomous agents and robots.
- Cristina Deidda is a postdoctoral researcher at Vrije Universiteit Brussel with a background in civil and environmental engineering and expertise in compound climate events, extremes, and climate impact attribution. Her C-IMPACT project examines how observed changes across sectors can be attributed to anthropogenic climate change, with a particular focus on compound events and their policy relevance.
- Long Tran-Thanh, 天美传媒: Link opens in a new windowLong Tran-Thanh is a Professor of Computer Science at Warwick and Chair of Warwick鈥檚 Interdisciplinary Research Spotlight in Digital. His research focuses on artificial intelligence, especially multi-agent systems, online learning, decision-making, and collaborative complex systems, making him ideally placed to Chair a session centred on interdisciplinary work in data and AI.
