Introduction
Please note that the modules listed are those we intend to run based on the latest information regarding staff availability, but that teaching staff availability can change, e.g. retirements, parental leave, or ill health, which may require the withdrawal of modules at a later point. If that is the case, students will be notified accordingly.

It is essential all students familiarise themselves with the degree course syllabi. This will tell you which modules you must take as core requirements of your degree as well as how many optional modules you may choose.

30 CATS Compressed
30 CATS Compressed modules are 30 CATS intensive modules which run in only one term. Please note that students on the Venice stream will be given priority allocation for all final-year 15 CATS modules.

Pre-Approved Outside Options
These are modules run by other departments in the Faculty of Arts which students can choose to take as outside options without needing to seek approval from the relevant Year Director first. These modules will be available to select in the History module selection form.
If you would like to take an alternative outside option which is not listed here, you will need to follow the usual process for requesting this as outlined in the module information pageLink opens in a new window.

Please note that outside options do NOT count towards the MODERN or EARLY MODERN module requirements.

Final Year
Any single-honours students on the standard History course (V100/V104) who wish to take outside options in their final year must ensure these equate to 30 CATS exactly, either as a single 30 CATS module or as Term 1 and Term 2 15 CATS modules.
