All you need to know about when and how you'll get your results. Find out about progression and graduation requirements, mitigation, how to navigate reassessments and where to go for support. What do I need to pass or graduate?

To graduate, or move on to the next year of your studies, you will need to meet certain progression requirements:

Progress to next year

First Year

You need to pass 90 credits (including required core modules) with an overall average mark of 40% across all 120 credits to progress to the next year of study. If you fail to meet these requirements, you will be required to complete reassessments. The required core modules can be found in the syllabiLink opens in a new window.

Intermediate Year

To progress from second year to third year, or from third year to fourth year, you must meet the following requirements:

To progress to the next year of an Honours degree (or the next level of study if you are part-time), you must normally have passed at least 90 credits and have an overall mean of at least 40%.
To progress to the Year Abroad, you must normally have passed at least 90 credits and have an overall mean of at least 60%.

Graduate

Final Year

You need to pass 90 credits with an overall average mark of 40% across all 120 credits to graduate.
If you fail to meet these requirements, you will be required to complete reassessments.
Students who complete reassessments and meet graduation requirements in the summer vacation exam period will graduate in January.

How do I see my results?

To view your results, you will need to visit your Tabula profile and click the 'Modules' tab.

There you will see how many CATS you have passed, your Year Mark and your Year Weighting percentage:

What are progression requirements? What's the different between year mark and overall mark?

Your year mark is the average of your module marks for that year.

Your overall degree mark is an average of your year marks for intermediate and final year.

All full-time degrees based in History have the following weighting:

Year 1 - 0%
Year 2 - 50%
Intercalated Year - 0%
Final Year - 50%

What happens if I've failed a module? What happens if I've only failed one assessment? Is it too late to apply for mitigation?

The department has to have a deadline for mitigation applications so that cases can be considered in a fair and timely manner ahead of exam boards. Please respect this deadline because the department cannot accept late mitigation.

If there is a good reason why you could not meet the department deadline for mitigation, then you may be able to appeal.

I'm worried about my results. What do I do? I have an issue with my results. Who do I speak to?

Can I appeal my results?

Mitigating Circumstances outcomes

If you applied for mitigating circumstances, then the outcome of your application will be available for you to view on Tabula on results day. You can find your application in the 'Personal Circumstances' tab on Tabula.

Common outcomes are explained below:

Late penalties

If a mitigation application is approved, then the Mitigating Circumstances Panel can recommend that late penalties are waived. You might see this happening in Tabula before your exam results are released. This is a normal part of the process, but please wait until your results day before contacting us with any questions about this.

Waived assessments

If a mitigation application is approved, then the Mitigating Circumstances Panel can recommend that certain assessments are waived. An assessment can only be waived if:

The assessment did not achieve a pass mark
The assessment is worth 3 CATS or fewer
The cumulative total of waived assessments must be no more than 6 CATS each year

If an assessment has been waived, you will not be automatically given the opportunity to resit this assessment. If you would like to resit an assessment that has been waived, you should request this by emailing historyoffice@warwick.ac.uk

FFAs No action

In some cases, mitigation is approved, but there is no action that the Mitigating Circumstances Panel can take immediately. If you submitted all assessments on time, or passed all your modules then this might be the case. Mitigation can never change raw marks.

It鈥檚 important to note that your mitigating circumstances will be considered by the Final Year Exam Board. The department takes mitigating circumstances into account when determining whether a student should graduate with a First, a 2.1, or a 2.2, and we look especially closely at borderline cases and cases where particular marks may have been affected by mitigation. This means that when you are ready to graduate, the Final Year Exam Board will consider whether the mitigation has had a material effect on the assessments completed during the period of impact, and whether there is any cause to change your final degree classification.

If so, you will soon receive an email from the central University as well as an email from the Department of History.
